Put everything back on the car and things work great!! Proper rubber flexing action, not chattering or wiper noise!! Time will tell how my $15 wipers refills work out, but sure beats the noise and having to wait for the dealer and pay the dealer price!! Not so sure how many times you can do this before then end of the BMW/Bosch blade end becomes brittle and breaks? But I figure about every 3-4th set of wiper blades I may replace them with OEM's. Used pliers to pinch the upper end of the BMW/Bosch blade closed into the KleenView recess that keeps the rubber insert stationary. I did the same with the KleenView blades and installed KleenView rubber inserts in my BMW/Bosch blades. All you need to do is carefully bend the upper end of the BMW/Bosch blade to allow the rubber insert to be slid out of the blade. Figure out how the BMW/Bosch blades are built and decide to pull the rubber insert out. Well I get home, pull the blades off the Beast, bring them inside and start to closely inspect and compare.
I figured at worse case I may loose my money for one or both blades if things do not work out.
Decided to purchase them and try out a swap. I found KleenView K22 & K26 that looked very close in design to the rubber inserts. So I ended up focusing on the cheapest/simplest looking blades they had. Although they had Bosch blades, they looked a bit different that what I needed. So I hit my local Advance Auto Parts and start looking at what is offered.
BOSCH OR RAIN X WIPER BLADES DRIVERS
Only thing I have to loose is a bit of time and maybe $15.įigure out the closest wiper blade/refill length is 26" for the drivers side and the 22" for the passenger side. I decide to try and change the wiper blade rubber insert in actual wiper blade. I inspect the wiper blades carefully and measure the overall length. Well I decide to try something creative as the weather is bad and I will not be able to get to the dealer for a while.
BOSCH OR RAIN X WIPER BLADES HOW TO
First part was figuring out how to remove the wiper blades, not so easy to figure out at first glance! Slide the lock lever upward and wiggle the blade toward the cowl, in line with the wiper arm and the blade is released! Bosch blades, however, slightly unusual size and mounting. Well being a Sunday and a bit desperate, I decided to get creative. Stupid me thinks that I can get wiper blades from my local auto parts store!! Well you know the drill, different size blades and "dealer only" item. So rains almost all weekend long and I find out my wiper blades are set on an angle and do not properly flex causing a lot of wiper chatter and noise. So I recently purchased my Beast, had it about 2 weeks before any rain, so I had not had a chance to really use my wipers.
